The Mast Academy beach volleyball season is just around the corner, and anticipation is building as tryouts approach. From February 10-14, students will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and earn a spot on the team. With a strong tradition of competitive play and dedicated athletes, Mast Academy is looking forward to another successful season. Players are eager to see what this year’s team will bring to the court.
This season, the team is hoping to build on past successes and continue improving. Many returning players have been training hard in the off-season. “We have been running the Key Biscayne bridge and playing scrimmages versus each other on the weekends” said Laura Pappas, one of the players on the team. Additionally, new talent is expected to emerge during tryouts, getting new people for the squad. The combination of experienced players and new players will help create a well-rounded team capable of competing at a high level. The coach of the balling team says she has higher expectations going into the season due to the fact that we will be hosting two home games.
Beach volleyball requires a unique mix of skill, strategy, and endurance, and the team is prepared to put in the hard work. Practices will focus on improving techniques like serving, passing, and setting, while also emphasizing communication and teamwork. Practices will be held in the mornings and afternoons to ensure they get their rhythm in for the season. The players understand that success comes from dedication and perseverance, and they are ready to push themselves to their limits. Mia Davey says “The only thing we have to worry about is the heat which will be our biggest challenge due to it getting hot during the season”. Regardless of that, with strong coaching and a committed group of athletes, the team is set up for an winning season.

Players support and encourage each other both on and off the court, creating a positive and motivating environment. This camaraderie not only strengthens the team but also makes the season more enjoyable for everyone involved.
