Cross Country Team attends 2023 GMAC Championship

MAST Academy’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams competed in their 2023 GMAC Championship

On October 13th, MAST Academy’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams competed in their 2023 GMAC Championship.

In the Girls 5km Run, MAST scored 181 points and finished seventh out of ten schools. MAST’s placements included 33, 34, 45, 57, 83, 93, and 94.

In the Boys 5km Run, MAST scored 324 points and finished 13th overall out of 18 schools. MAST’s placements included 50, 66, 93, 141, 142, 147, 181, 182, 200, 217, and 240.

G.Holmes Braddock High School placed first in both events.

Camila Gomez is a freshman and journalist at MAST Academy. This is her first year here at MAST and her first time trying out journalism. She’s looking forward to writing for The Beacon. “I chose journalism because language arts is my favorite subject and it sounded fun” she says. Gomez’s decided on coming to MAST for the location, as well as the academics. “I actually almost went to Immaculata-La Salle High School but eventually decided on MAST,” Gomez said. Besides school Gomez really enjoys American football. “If this school had American football I would love to cover it for the newspaper.”
