During quarantine the easiest thing to do is never leave your pajamas, remain in bed till 2pm and continue to watch Netflix while eating your way through the fridge till 4am. However, one look at any social media site and a flood of posts with the importance of being active and exercising causes a flood of guilt to flow through you. The next thing you know you are scrolling through endless YouTube videos looking for a good workout to get you through the day. Everywhere online, celebrities are taking part in live streams on Instagram with friends and family, YouTube channels with home workouts from HIIT exercises to body weight workouts adaptable to any room or environment. The amount of recourses helping people stay fit are endless, which also means a bit overwhelming, but do not be discouraged, as it’s just about finding what is right for you.
Scientists and fitness experts alike are stressing the importance of staying active while staying at home and many online platforms and YouTube channels have made this easily accessible. There are exercises and monthly workout plans available with or without equipment for beginners all the way to advanced learners. Below is a list compiled of different students’ favorite YouTube trainers they are relying on during this time.
- Personal trainer Joannah Soh brings her expertise to your living room in many different at-home workout circuits. She also posts videos with fitness challenges along with healthy meal plans and nutritional advice.
- Maddie Lymburner’s channel Madfit is great for quick workouts that target different areas of the body. She also does workouts to different famous songs to give you that extra boost of energy.
- Cassey Ho’s Blogilates channel offers short, muscle-burning pilates workouts. She has a great upbeat attitude that inspires you to keep pushing! You can also find her along with many other fitness trainers on the free FitOn app which is accessible on the computer too for fun quick workouts that will get you sweating.
- If you are in the mood for some inner peace and a calming workout watch subscribe to Yoga with Adrienne on youtube and complete her 30 days of yoga challenge to take your mind off of any stresses or worries.
These are only a few of a massive amount of great workout trainers and routines available, there are also many different apps that give workout and diet plans. Some of The Beacon staff also wanted to share their quarantine workouts to hopefully inspire you and to show that we are all out here trying to keep our bodies healthy and strong while we need it the most.
“I normally jog two miles and then follow different MadFit videos on YouTube,” senior Sofia Marin said.
“I do a circuit, 45-second repetitions, and three sets of each exercise. I do Russian twists, leg raises, hip raises, butterfly kicks, planks and seated in and outs. It targets the abs and some of the movements target the quads,” senior Fiona Killian said.
“I work out my arms, back, chest, abs, and legs with my at-home weights. I mostly do push-ups, crunches, squats, and bicep curls but I switch up the variations and add some weights sometimes,” senior Ravi Lima said.
