Last night, MAST Academy’s boys’ basketball teams played Key West High school. The JV Makos played first.
The first quarter was close with Key West leading 4-8. Notably, Key West scored on their own goal which gave MAST two points.
Key West broke away in the second quarter, beating MAST 20-10. MAST gained some momentum in the third and fourth quarter, however Key West beat MAST 35-47.
Prior the Varsity Game, the Varsity Makos arrived to the Key Biscayne Community Center in polo shirts.
When the game began starting, the Varsity Makos ran out energetically to begin their warm-ups for the game. Right before tip off, the seniors were announced onto the court as the crowd cheered.
The varsity Makos were down going into the second half, however energy was still high as the MAST Academy’s Dance Crew did a performance.
Although Key West beat the Makos, the senior night was not about winning the game. After the game, Coach Phillips gave a speech to the team as the seniors received their flowers.
