On Oct. 26, MAST Academy had their second Trunk Or Treat. Parents, students, and staff volunteered to be a part of it. Parents drove to the school and set their cars up in the parking lot around 4:00 p.m. Each individual decorated their trunks with imaginative and elaborate themes. MAST’s middle and high schoolers then move from car to car, collecting candies and treats from each trunk and jammed to the DJ. They wore inflatable costumes of among us characters, sharks, dinosaurs, bears, hamsters, unicorns and more. There were angels, devils, vampires, and many more scary and fun costumes.
When asked when and why she started Trunk Or Treat, Jennifer Fernandez, MAST’s activities director, said through e-mail:
“I began the Trunk or Treat last year because I thought it would be a good event to unite the middle and high school groups.”
She went on to express how this event also gives an opportunity for clubs to collaborate and parents to get involved. She wrote that our school’s trunk or treat stands out because our student body adds their “special sauce” to everything they do and is amazing. The event works in collaboration with the National Honor Society and the student body to gather candy. They continue to go above and beyond with promotion from the Student Government Association and News Crew to recruit students to participate.
“It’s a student led project from start to finish,” she said.
Lastly, she wrote that she hopes next years trunk or treat can host a larger event with more cars and that there could possibly be a spooky movie night.
