Both the boys’ and girls’ golf teams have had an impressive season. The boys are undefeated in regular matches, tying for first at the youth fair invitational before losing in a tie-breaking playoff. Meanwhile, the girls, despite being a very young team, were competitive and won most of their matches, finishing 10th as a team at the youth fair, which featured over 30 competing teams.
Excitement is building for the postseason, with 9 out of 10 players already completing their qualifying rounds for districts and beyond. This is the first year for the new golf coach, who has quickly grown fond of the sport. Notably, the boys’ team earned runner-up honors at the youth fair invitational, with Borja Friend and Cipriano Montoya winning medals for individual finishes—2nd and 3rd place, respectively—out of more than 130 golfers.
The boys have a perfect record at 7-0, while the girls stand at 4-2. Practices typically occur twice a week, though many golfers also engage in outside play and participate in other tournaments. Overall, it’s been a remarkable season for both teams.
