Hate speech written in MAST Academy girls’ bathroom

A racist slur was etched into the wall of a restroom on the third floor of Building 5. A teacher’s name appeared next to the etching.

A racist slur was found in the girls’ third floor west bathroom Friday afternoon. An arrow pointing to the slur had at the other end, the name of MAST Academy teacher, Ms. Ervin. A student reported the writing to Ervin, who is Black, this past Friday afternoon.

Alongside this offensive writing, there was other inappropriate writings on the wall.

This was brought to light after a report last week that a swastika was found in a classroom with Grade 7 students.
