It is finally spirit week in our school. Throughout this week we will have a jersey day, seniors vs newborns, pep rally and pajama day! Spirit week is mostly a week of challenges and doing fun activities. The entire school gets to participate in all the fun games and challenges.
Tuesday (November 12) was the first day of spirit week. What we had to do was wear a jersey. You get to choose what you want. Whether it’s a soccer jersey, football, jersey, basketball jersey etc. Many students came dressed in jerseys from all different sports and all around the world. The next day, which was Wednesday, was senior’s vs newborns! For this one you could have chosen to dress up as a senior, making you look older, or you could have chosen to dress up as a newborn, basically dressing up as a baby and looking young. We interviewed a couple of people that dressed up for jersey day. We interviewed Horacio Monsalve in 9th grade. We asked, “what jersey are you wearing today?” and “why did you chose to wear this jersey” Horacio responded, “I am wearing a Barcelona jersey from 2020” and “I chose this jersey because Barcelona is my favorite team.”
Then came the pep rally. All students from grade 6-12 were supposed to wear their grades color. Grades 6-8 competed vs each other, and for highschool grades 9-12 competed against each other. For highschoolers the seniors won, and they were wearing red. For the middle schoolers the 8th graders won, and they were wearing green. For the last day of spirit week, which was on Friday, was pajama day. You were allowed to wear your pjs to school. We also interviewed Simon Santarelli 9th grade. We asked him “what was your favorite day of spirit week?” and “did you participate in any of the fun activities through the week. If so witch ones?” He told us this “my favorite day was pep rally because I got to participate in the competitions and also spectate other struggling to win point in pep rally.” “I also came to school in my pjs on Friday because they are really comfortable, and it was a fun thing to participate in.”
Many people really had fun during spirit week. Denis Osorto from 9th grade said, “I enjoyed spirit week so much, seeing people come dressed up as different thing was really funny, and pep rally was super cool.” Most people really enjoyed spirit week at mast academy!!!
