We asked students at MAST Academy what they think is the best city in the world. From Miami’s sunny streets to the iconic skylines of New York and the cultural richness of Tokyo, the responses were diverse and passionate. Here’s a look at what some of the students had to say.
“Miami has everything—beaches, culture, and great food,” says Emily Garcia, a freshman at the school. “It’s the perfect city to live in. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re into nightlife, relaxing on the beach, or exploring the arts scene. It just feels like home to me. The vibe here is like no other place.”
Emily’s love for Miami is shared by many, with the city’s cultural diversity and vibrant atmosphere being key factors. “There’s always something happening in Miami,” she adds. “From festivals to street art to world-class restaurants, it’s a city that never gets boring.”
For others, the energy of larger cities calls their name. “New York is the best for me,” says Juan Remolina, a sixth grader. “The energy, the people, and the constant action make it feel like anything is possible. I love how there’s always something happening—whether it’s a Broadway show or a street performer. The city pushes you to keep up and chase your dreams. It’s where you can really feel the pulse of the world.”
Juan highlights New York’s fast pace as one of its most exciting features. “It’s a place where you never stop moving, and that’s what makes it exciting. Even on the subway, you’re surrounded by people doing incredible things.”
Meanwhile, for Ishaan Mauskar, an exchange student from Japan, “Tokyo is the best city because it blends old traditions with new technology,” she says. “Tokyo is a perfect mix of the past and future. You can visit ancient temples in the morning and shop at high-tech malls in the afternoon. The food is also incredible, and the city is so clean and efficient. It’s a place where you feel connected to both history and innovation at the same time.”
Ishaan notes how Tokyo’s commitment to balancing progress and tradition is what sets it apart. “The way they respect their culture while constantly advancing in technology is amazing. It’s inspiring to see how both coexist.”
While opinions varied from city to city, many students agreed that Miami holds a special place in their hearts. Whether it’s the beach lifestyle, the energetic vibe, or the diverse culture, there’s something about this city that continues to captivate everyone who lives here.
“Miami feels like home,” says Ishaan, summing it up. “No matter where you go, it’s always the place that pulls you back.”
