Infrastructure Challenges
MIA has seen a significant rebound in passenger traffic following the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The past year the airport reported an increase in international flights, driven by strong demand for travel to and from Latin America and Europe.
Airlines have expanded their routes from these airports. However, several of MIA’s terminals are aging and this is leading to congestion and long wait times. Many of the facilities in the airport are in dire need of renovation to meet the expectations of the thousands of passengers that are received in the airport each day.
“For the flight that was taking to Argentina two weeks ago, I came to the airport four hours before my departure line, and it nearly took me an hour and a half to get past the security lane This has to be fixed some way, because it is unacceptable for tourists that come visit our city to have to be waiting almost to hours in line to get past a security check”, says Miami resident Hugo Sanchez who went to visit Argentina for almost two weeks.
This shows that some of the residents of our great city are extremely concerned with the state of the airport and believe that it requires an imminent solution. Without a doubt, our airport needs an immediate renovation and improvement of facilities
Cargo Operations
The Miami International Airport is also known as a leading airport in the world of cargo. However, its infrastructure has been struggling to keep pace with the growing demands of e-commerce.
There are insufficient cargo facilities in the airport, which affects efficiency to do the required work. All of this delays the process that needs to take place in the airport. The Miami International Airport handles a lot of substantial goods, such as medicines and foods.
“Many warehouses and loading areas lack modern technology and systems for vital operations. This all results in longer processing times and higher costs for the airlines” admitted former cargo operator at the Miami International Airport Juan Vidal.
With some added features, the Miami Airport Will become one of the most advanced airports in our country.
While the Miami International Airport remains a critical player in the global airport landscape, the challenges it faces will determine if this continues being the case or not. By prioritizing infrastructure investment and embarking technological advancements, MIA can improve its operations, ensuring it remains an airport of high reputation.
